Fans of the action-packed John Wick franchise have been eagerly awaiting news about the possibility of a fifth installment. With the recent release of John Wick: Chapter 4, the series has once again garnered positive attention. However, the future of the franchise remains uncertain.

While the world of John Wick is expanding with a upcoming series on Peacock and a spin-off film led by Ana De Armas set for release in 2024, the status of John Wick 5 is still up in the air. Director Chad Stahelski, who helmed John Wick: Chapter 4, has expressed his thoughts on the idea of continuing the series.

In an exclusive interview with The Direct’s Klein Felt, Stahelski discussed the potential for a fifth movie in the Keanu Reeves-led series. He acknowledged that when something is successful, there is a desire to keep doing it, but emphasized the challenge of maintaining individuality and avoiding repetition.

Stahelski expressed his gratitude for the fans who want more from the franchise, calling it “incredibly flattering.” He acknowledged the interest in a fifth movie but also mentioned feeling like they had completed the cycle with John Wick: Chapter 4, stating that they had put everything they had into it and felt satisfied with the result.

While Stahelski noted that he wouldn’t mind doing a John Wick 5, he emphasized feeling mentally exhausted at the moment. He mentioned having numerous ideas for set pieces and storylines stored in notebooks but explained that he currently lacked the motivation to pursue them further.

In regards to discussions with Lionsgate, the studio behind the John Wick films, Stahelski expressed a willingness to work together again, but stated that the details of how and why were still uncertain. He emphasized the importance of not rushing into another installment and ensuring that any potential future project would be more than just a cash grab.

Stahelski concluded the interview by reflecting on the success of the franchise and the satisfaction of delivering an entertaining experience to the audience. While the future of John Wick beyond Chapter 4 remains uncertain, fans can rest assured that the possibility of a fifth movie is still on the table, albeit with careful consideration and a focus on maintaining the integrity of the series.

For now, enthusiasts can continue to enjoy the world of John Wick with the upcoming series and spin-off film, eagerly awaiting any updates on the future of the beloved assassin’s story.
