This spin-off will co-exist with the film and is part of Legendary’s plan to turn Dune into video games, digital content packages, and comic book series.

Denis Villeneuve, who is directing the Dune film, will serve as the director for the pilot of The Sisterhood with Jon Spaihts. The Sisterhood will explore the universe that Dune exists within through the eyes of a mysterious order of women called the Bene Gesserit. They have been given extraordinary abilities and can weave through the feudal politics of The Imperium. They pursue their own plans that will lead them to Arrakis, which is known to its inhabitants as Dune.

Villeneuve and Spaihts will executive produce. Villeneuve stated:

“The Bene Gesserit have always been fascinating to me. Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series.”
