Dwayne Johnson in Discussions With Marvel About Namor?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”20949″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]With the money making machine that is Avengers Endgame chugging toward breaking Avatar’s global box office record, Marvel has been working on what follows. Apparently, one of those discussions involves one Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Just recently, Johnson had posted a lengthy congratulations to the creative team at Marvel for the monumental success of End Game. He hinted that he and his team had been trying to hook up with Kevin Feige, mastermind at Marvel Studios. Now MovieHole has reported that Johnson and his team have indeed been in creative discussions with Marvel. This would come as no surprise as Marvel and just about everyone would love to collaborate with Johnson and his Seven Bucks Productions.

What MovieHole reveals is that with numerous possible projects being discussed, the one mentioned for Johnson could be Namor. Bill Everett’s Sub-Mariner has been being discussed  over at Manhattan Beach and it appears that Johnson’s been on their go-to list for it for quite awhile now.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21390″ img_size=”850×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The possible conflict might be his involvement in his Black Adam project over at DC/Warner. It was  projected to go into production next summer, however the studio have yet to make any definitive moves on the project. Since the folks at Marvel don’t tend to let grass grow under their feet, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a SubMariner film would come together first.

This has not been the first talk of a SubMariner film. It has been in different phases of development since before Iron Man. Back in the late ’90s, they had hired Philip Kaufman to direct, and Sam Hamm (“Batman Returns”) to write the piece. That project fell apart just as the Universal Pictures version in 2001 did. Both Chris Columbus and Jonathan Mostow were at times attached to the film but it couldn’t come together. In 2014, Marvel Studios finally got the rights back to the character from Universal although they still get distribution rights. Marvel has been have reportedly exploring the film possibility ever since.
