Despite the reaction some had with Jesse Eisenberg’s portrayal of Lex Luthor, I think it was well played and I’d love to see him return to the role. Eisenberg has said on many occasions that he would love to return to the role but said it is not up to him and he is not sure what WB has planned for the character.
The last time we saw Lex he was on a yacht talking with Deathstroke about the possibility of forming their own team. That scene took place at the end of Justice League and we all know how that movie turned out. Still, Jesse remains hopeful that he can return to the role and recently had this to say about playing Lex again
“Oh yeah, I would very much like to because it’s such a cool character, Playing a villain in a superhero movie is the fun part. The good guys are fine, but the villains are the fun part because they get to be a little bit more flamboyant. Of course, the hero gets to, you know, survive. But, the villain has all the funny lines. I don’t know about the first part, but the second part is something that I could definitely be involved in, sure.”
Fans have been clamoring for the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League but WB seems content with moving forward and looking to the future. Will that future involve Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex? WB doesn’t seem in a hurry to make another Superman film so if he returns it won’t be any time soon unless he were to cameo in an upcoming film.
