Former Special Forces Operative Seeks Vengeance

New York, NY (April 28, 2025) – Epic Pictures proudly presents Stand Your Ground, a gripping action-thriller set for a theatrical release on May 9, with tickets available via AMC Theatres. The film will also be available digitally and on demand starting May 27.

Directed by celebrated Swedish filmmaker Fansu Njie, known for his passion for action and horror, Stand Your Ground delivers a uniquely American tale of revenge. This marks Njie’s second collaboration with star Daniel Stisen, following their global hit Last Man Down on Netflix. Stisen, a former world-renowned bodybuilder turned actor, leads the cast alongside Fargo’s Peter Stormare.

A Story of Revenge and Redemption

In the film, Stisen plays Jack Johnson, a former Special Forces operative who returns home with his pregnant wife, Roxi (Roxi Kravitz). Their lives are shattered when a brutal attack, orchestrated by local crime lord Bastion (Peter Stormare), results in Roxi’s murder. In a fit of rage, Jack kills one of the assailants, leading to a six-year prison sentence. Upon release, he learns the attackers were Bastion’s sons, prompting a relentless quest for vengeance.

Using the controversial Stand Your Ground law, Jack lures Bastion’s eldest son, Leon (Michael Billington), into a trap, leaving him comatose. As Bastion retaliates with a team of assassins, Jack fortifies his home for a fierce defense. The conflict escalates as Bastion’s conflicted daughter, Molly (Isobel Laidler), and the town Sheriff, Dwayne (Patrick Regis), confront the crime lord, culminating in an explosive showdown where Jack faces both his enemies and his own humanity.

    Behind the Scenes

Director Fansu Njie describes the film: The story begins with a brutal crime the system won’t touch—and escalates from 0 to 100, ending in a full-blown war no one sees coming.

Star Daniel Stisen adds: It’s a classic American revenge action film grounded in the Stand Your Ground laws – about defending your family, your home, and your freedom from a crime lord, sparking an all-out war. I had a really fun time working with the stunt team making the action scenes, which is always fun. It makes me feel like a young boy again.

Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald shares: With Fansu Njie’s sharp direction and a breakout performance by Daniel Stisen – cementing his place as one of the next great action stars – alongside the legendary Peter Stormare, this is a high-octane thrill ride audiences won’t want to miss.
