According to test screening, Carol Danvers’s cat Goose was the stand-out star for the upcoming MCU film. Collider’s Steve Weintraub commented:
“Hearing #CaptainMarvel screened. After it ended everyone was talking about the cat. Stole the show. Must. See. This. Movie. Stat.”
While Carol’s cat in the comics is named Chewie after the Star Wars character Chewbacca, Goose is an obvious nod to Top Gun, which isn’t a surprise considering some flashback scenes from Captain Marvel remind me slightly of the famous Tom Cruise movie. It seems that we’re in for another adorable mascot in the MCU and as a cat lover, I’m not complaining.
Captain Marvel opens in theaters March 8th.
