After Amazon Prime’s The Boys explosive season four finale, fans are asking what next? The Boys has always been a bombastic, insane show, but season four upped the anty. And the finale left off on such a cliffhanger that, as a fan; you want to see it now. Luckily, the show has been renewed for a fifth season, so we don’t have to worry about not being able to see the fallout of that finale.
So, what do we know about The Boys season five?
The Boys Season Five Will Be Its Last
The Boys has always been renewed for an additional episode either before the current season premiered or soon after. So, it was no surprise when the show was renewed for a fifth season. However, this season will be the last one. It makes sense – fives seasons nowadays, especially for streaming services; is pretty fair. And considering the show knows the fifth season will be the last, they can plan out accordingly.
Which, it seems like showrunner Eric Kripke has already done.
“Usually from about when you start the writers room, and we started like about a month ago, five weeks ago, to when generally you hit the air, it’s about two years and change,” he told Deadline. “I know where I want it to end up, but we spent the first probably four weeks of the room just talking about like overall mythology and where we want the story to go.” – Deadline
When Will The Boys Season 5 Come Out?
We may very well have to wait until the middle of 2026 for season five to come out.
Will Claudia Doumit Return? [Spoilers]
SPOILERS FOR SEASON FOUR’S FINALE.
With Victoria Neuman’s death by the hands of Billy Butcher, it’s safe to assume actress Claudia Doumit will not return for season five. The actress, who has been with the show for three seasons; told Deadline:
“I think it’s a pretty permanent death. It is time for Neuman’s story to be over. I fully believe that, because you have so many cool characters, that you have to wrap up their stories, and you only have one season left to do it. Actually, you only have eight episodes left to do it. You want to give them as much story time as those characters, like Butcher, Annie (Starlight) deserve. People have been watching those cool characters for four seasons now, so they should be the focus in the final season.”
RIP Victoria Neuman.
The Boys Adds Another Supernatural Actor [Maybe]
Eric Kripke has brought on a lot of actors from The CW’s Supernatural, which he had also created. I think we all collectively fan-girled when Jensen Ackles joined as Soldier Boy. And while some fans may know Jeffrey Dean Morgan best for his role as Negan on The Walking Dead, he also played John Winchester on The CW show.
Well, Kripke has added another member of the Winchester family, as Jared Padalecki has accepted an invitation for season five. Padalecki and Ackles played the brothers Sam and Dean Winchester on Supernatural for fifteen seasons.
Padalecki told Deadline:
“We have talked [about a role]. I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever. I adore him. I adore his humor. I adore him as a person, his storytelling. So I can’t wait. I don’t think [Season 5] films until next year, but I will be ready when he makes the phone call. I’ll just say ‘Okay, when am I flying out?’”
What About Gen V?
Gen V is The Boys spinoff that found success with its first season prior to season four of The Boys. In fact, actors Maddie Phillips and Asa Germann reprised their roles as Cate and Sam in The Boys finale. Gen V will have a second season, though production has been delayed due to the unfortunate and sudden death of star Chance Perdomo. The show will not recast.
What Will Season Five Be About?
While we don’t have any details regarding the plot for season five, it’s pretty obvious that we’re headed in a direction akin to the comic book’s – with Homelander taking over the United States and Billy Butcher having to take all the Supes down. The show has changed things from the comic and characters that never existed in the comic, exist in the show. So, we can’t be sure about the details.
All we do know is that it’s one to be one hell of a ride.
