Award-winning production company celebrates a decade of gaming culture with plans for a new documentary diving into the latest industry innovations.

Dallas, TX – September 03, 2024 – As the original Video Games: The Movie marks its ten-year anniversary, Mediajuice Studios is leveling up with a major announcement: a sequel to their groundbreaking documentary is officially in the works. Directed by Jeremy Snead, the original film was a deep dive into the history and cultural impact of video games, featuring notable names like Sean Astin, Nolan Bushnell, and Phil Spencer. Now, Snead and his team are set to explore the industry’s latest advancements in a follow-up documentary titled Video Games: The Next Level.

Since the 2014 release of Video Games: The Movie, the global gaming industry has seen unprecedented growth, now valued at over $350 billion. This sequel aims to capture the rapid changes that have reshaped the world of gaming—from the rise of eSports and streaming platforms to the evolution of virtual and augmented reality technologies.

“Reflecting on the past ten years since the release of my film Video Games: The Movie, I’m amazed at how the industry has continued to grow,” Snead said. “What started as a passion project has become a testament to the ever-growing significance of video games in our lives. I’m thrilled to continue exploring where the gaming industry is and where it’s going in this new documentary.”

The documentary will feature interviews with key figures in the gaming world, from developers and industry insiders to eSports champions and streaming celebrities. It will also tackle critical issues like inclusivity, representation, and the ethical challenges of game development.

Narrator Sean Astin expressed his excitement about returning for the sequel: “The gaming audience has an insatiable appetite, and designers have to keep up with not only the stories they tell but the technology driving those stories. It’s incredible to see how far the industry has come in just ten years, and I’m thrilled to continue shining a light on this dynamic world.”

Video Games: The Next Level will not only celebrate the history and cultural impact of gaming but also look forward to the future of this ever-evolving medium. With a focus on creativity, innovation, and the democratization of game development, the documentary promises to be a comprehensive exploration of what lies ahead for the gaming industry.
