I have been lucky enough to read the first 6 pages of Identity Stunt Issue #4 in order to bring you this exclusive first look and its shaping up to be the most action-packed issue yet, which is saying a lot considering this is Identity Stunt we’re talking about.
The official Plot synopsis for the issue is as follows: “The dawn is about to break and Sami Nasser’s adventure of a lifetime is about to come to its frenzied conclusion! Back-to-back with the unhinged vigilante, Beatdown, and surrounded by a legion of ganglord Dominus Smith’s horrors, “Sam” will stop at nothing to rescue his family. Even with the surprising faces aiding Sam in his darkest hour, will their Hail Mary play be enough? As the sun rises and the dust settles, some questions are answered…and more are asked, setting up the next mind-blowing chapter of Sam Nasser’s life! Capturing the bombastic tones of ‘80s and ’90s action films, writer Joe R. Khachadourian (Transformers: Mosaic), artist J. Briscoe Allison (Sweet Lullaby), and cover artist Tone Rodriguez (The Snake Plissken Chronicles) bring you a relentless odyssey involving complex characters, a touch of romance, and a fistful of masked lunatics!”
Its that 80’s and 90’s action element I want to talk about because that has always been the biggest strength of Identity Stunt but from what I’ve read of Issue 4 it really raises the bar. It’s both serious and graphic but bombastic and very over the top not in an annoying way but in classic 90’s entertaining way. To give you a look at what I’m talking about check out my favorite comic strip out of the preview that is absolutely jam-packed with incredible action.
The preview also showed signs of Identity Stunts more heartfelt emotional side peeking through underneath this layer of overwhelming action and that is really intriguing. If you’re a fan of Identity Stunt you’ll know that the story is very personal to Sam and it’s no different here. I’m really hoping to see how this side of the story plays out as well as how Sam’s final battle will unfold.
