Prepare yourselves for a riotous journey into the realm of the unknown as AHOY Comics unleashes the sixth installment of PROJECT: CRYPTID on February 21, 2024. This sensational anthology, a brainchild of the dynamic duo Matt Bors and Mattie Lubchansky, accompanied by the artistic prowess of Daniel Irizarri and Maki Naro, promises to be a rollercoaster ride through the bizarre and comical world of cryptids.

AHOY Comics has truly outdone itself by bringing forth PROJECT: CRYPTID, its first-ever continuing series. The anthology combines wit, humor, and artistic brilliance to explore the unbelievable and hilariously absurd tales surrounding cryptids from every corner of the globe. From the mysterious depths of Loch Ness to the snowy expanse of the Yeti’s Himalayan Mountains, and even to the dimly lit Ohio backroads inhabited by the enigmatic Loveland Frogman, this series leaves no stone unturned in its quest to answer the burning questions: Are these cryptids real, and more importantly, are they funny?

In PROJECT: CRYPTID #6, readers are in for a treat as Matt Bors and Daniel Irizarri take us on a wild expedition to Puerto Rico, chasing the legendary Chupacabra. Known for his work in “Justice Warriors” and “The Nib,” Bors weaves a tale that is sure to have readers simultaneously on the edge of their seats and in fits of laughter. Accompanying Bors is the artistic brilliance of Daniel Irizarri, whose illustrations promise to bring the Chupacabra to life in a way that will make your spine tingle with both fear and amusement.

But the laughter doesn’t end there. Mattie Lubchansky, celebrated for their work in “Boys Weekend,” teams up with the talented Maki Naro to take readers on a quest for the perfect cryptid influencer. In a world obsessed with influencers, Lubchansky and Naro ingeniously blend humor and the mysterious as they explore the untapped potential of cryptids in the world of social media.

Writer Matt Bors: “The wealthy have been obsessed with extending their lives throughout history, as if death can be avoided as easily as taxes. Lately we have seen extreme measures, such as tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, who famously injected himself with his son’s blood along with his daily regimen of 111 pills, laser masks, and carefully monitored erections (look it up).

Our story infuses some horror and satire into the concept with Puerto Rico’s chupacabra myth. Rich Americans use the island to avoid mainland taxation, but death might not be such a simple fix.”

Editor Sarah Litt: “When Matt Bors asks if he can write a story for your cryptid anthology, you say yes. When he asks if he can bring his cryptid-loving friends (Mattie Lubchansky, in this case), you say definitely. Add Daniel Irizarri and Maki Naro on art and, well….the result is just a delightful issue of PROJECT: CRYPTID!”
