Anyone who read this tweet had the same though; yes. Yes, please! Luckily, this afternoon, EW followed through and gave us our first look at Brie Larson as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.

After many behind the scene pictures of Larson in what looked like a green version of her traditional costume, it’s great to see her front and center looking more like the Captain Marvel we know and love. In an exclusive with EW, Larson revealed a bit about her role as Captain Marvel:
“She can’t help but be herself. She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.”
Captain Marvel will differ from other origin stories in that Carol Danvers will already have her powers when we first see her on screen. Because we all know how powerful she is and we all are looking forward to her jumping off point until the fourth Avengers, I’m glad to hear that the MCU has decided to make her solo film a different one than what we have seen. With Brie Larson on the frontline and the little we’ve seen now, I can only surmise that this film is going to be everything we dreamt it to be.
Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and also features Jude Law, who leads an elite Kree military team. Speaking of Kree, we know that Lee Pace will reprise his role as Ronan, as well as Samuel L Jackson as a youngr Nick Fury. Ben Mendelsohn will play Talos, the leader of the Skrulls, who can shape-shift. Talos will spearhead a Skrull invasion on Earth, which could be what brings Captain Marvel back to Earth to defend it.
We don’t have a trailer yet, but with a first look now here, we can only assume one is on its way.
