A Timely Story About Human Connection

Lost With You follows two strangers whose chance encounter on a Hollywood hiking trail evolves into an emotional journey that forces them to confront their differences. What begins as an unexpected meeting becomes a day of conversation, disagreement, and vulnerability as the pair navigate their opposing political, cultural, and emotional perspectives.

The film stars Jake Short, known for his work in Dexter and A.N.T. Farm, alongside Madison Shamoun, whose credits include All American and Black-ish. Together, the duo anchors the film’s stripped-down storytelling approach, relying heavily on chemistry and dialogue to carry the narrative.

Mike Southerly’s Vision for Lost With You

For writer and director Mike Southerly, the film started with a simple question: can two people who seem fundamentally opposed still find common ground?

“Lost With You came from a very simple question,” Southerly said. “Could two people who seem completely opposed — politically, culturally, emotionally — spend a day together and somehow find their way toward each other?”

Southerly explained that the project was inspired by the increasing polarization in everyday life and his desire to create a story centered on listening rather than division.

“At a time when it feels easier than ever to write people off, I wanted to make a movie about listening, laughing, disagreeing, and still choosing connection,”

As his first feature film, Southerly embraced a minimalist production style, keeping the focus on authentic human interaction.

“We made it in the most honest way possible — small crew, real locations, two actors, one trail, and a lot of heart,”

    The Team Behind the Film

Lost With You was produced by Peter Frintrup of Flickering Duck Productions and Cedric St. Clair, with James Hale serving as executive producer. Together, the creative team helped bring Southerly’s intimate and character-driven vision to life.

The film’s festival success has already established it as a notable indie romantic drama, earning praise for its grounded performances and emotionally resonant storytelling.

Fishbowl Films Expands Into Original Filmmaking

Los Angeles-based Fishbowl Films has spent more than 20 years building a strong reputation in motion picture advertising, trailers, promos, and entertainment branding. Led by longtime collaborators Mike Southerly and Jim Hale, the company has developed creative campaigns for filmmakers and studios across the industry.

With Lost With You, Fishbowl Films expands into original feature production, opening a new chapter for the company as it moves from marketing films to creating its own original cinematic stories.
