Olivia Holt has gotten a new role since her Cloak & Dagger run in Freeform’s, Cruel Summer. Set to lead, this will be her return to Freeform, as the Marvel show had previously aired on the platform.
Cruel Summer is an upcoming thriller drama previously titled Last Summer. The series comes from Bert V. Royal, Jessica Biel, and eOne. Holt will portray one of the two lead characters named Kate, who is described as the “embodiment of teenage perfection”. Everything is going great until she disappears. Mika Abdalla played the character in the pilot, but seems won’t reprise the role for the series.
Cruel Summer is being penned as an unconventional thriller, taking place over three summers – taking place between 1993 and 1995. Cruel Summer will take place in a small Texas town. Joining Holt is Chiara Aurelia as Jeanette, who goes from being the outsider to being the most popular girl in town. By the time it’s 1995, she’s the “most despised person in America”. Every episode will be told from the POV of one of the two main leads.
