In part 1, we covered some of the celebrities that would be in attendance for the 4 day GalaxyCon Raleigh event. That’s not all, as there will be a contingent of wrestling superstars past, present, and future to see. For those who love wrasslin’ this is a great weekend for you.
Wrestling SuperStars:
First off there is the 16 time Wrestling World Champion, the Nature Boy Ric Flair. He is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, as well as a NWA Hall of Fame Member and The Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Anyone who has followed wrestling needs no further introduction to the man who bled, sweat, and paid the price to be “The Man!” In addition, his daughter, WWE® Superstar Charlotte Flair™ will be in attendance on Friday from 3-7 pm.
That’s not all for the WWE. Here is the schedule per the GalaxyCon website for all the WWE Superstars in attendance.
WWE® Superstar Seth Rollins®
THURSDAY July 25th 3-7pm
WWE® Superstar Becky Lynch™
THURSDAY July 25th 3:30-7:30pm
WWE® Superstar Braun Strowman™
THURSDAY July 25th 4-8pm
WWE® Superstars The Hardy Boyz
FRIDAY July 26th 4-8pm
If that is not enough, you have “The Enforcer,” Arn Anderson. If you should choose, you can have a picture with half the “Four Horsemen” with Arn Anderson and Ric Flair. In addition, for those who were fans of the offbeat and rough and tumble you have Mick Foley A.K.A. Cactus Jack, Mankind, or Dude Love.
If you were in to the Legion of Doom, they have RoadWarrior Animal in attendance as well as the popular Magnum TA. These are the headliners along with a number of past and present wrestlers. So if you are a wrestling fan, you are bound to meet someone that will make the weekend a memorable one.
The Creators:
Next comes my favorite part, the Comic Creators. These are the talented people who were responsible for the great comics and stories from the past, and the present. As I have said before, the great thing about many of these people are they will take the time to talk and a number of them will sign things at no cost.
The headliner for this (strictly my opinion) is two time Hall of Fame comic artist and Batman comic artist legend, Neal Adams. Adams will be appearing at the 80 years of Batman panel (Definitely on my schedule) Full Disclosure time: Please be aware that Adams DOES charge for his autograph – $50.00. Just something to keep in mind. Doesn’t mean you can’t talk with him however.
Also on my must see list are artists Jim Starlin and Ron Lim. Starlin is the creator of someone we are quite familiar with by now, Thanos. In addition, he created Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Shang-Chi, Master of Kung-Fu, and Dreadstar. Lim is the long-time penciler on Silver Surfer and his art along with Jim Starlin, helped to shape the iconic stories of the Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, and Infinity Crusade. For fans of the Golden Age of Comics, they have Artists Vic Carabotta, and Jose Delbo. Between these comic veterans, they have over 100 years of comic wisdom and work.
In the writers category we have J.M. DeMatteis, he of Kraven’s Last Hunt fame, as well as Keith Giffen. DeMatteis and Giffen have been creative partners on many projects including the 2004 Formerly Known as the Justice League. For that work, they were awarded the Eisner Award along with Kevin Maguire, and Josef Rubinstein. You can see them together in a panel entitled: 30 YEARS OF BWAH HA HA!
Other writers in attendance include: Peter David, who has written for such comics as The Incredible Hulk, Young Justice, Supergirl, X-Factor, and Spider-Man. In addition, David has also written a number of Star Trek novels. Also look for Fabian Nicieza, who is one of the most prolific writers going in comics. He is the co-creator along with Rob Liefeld of DeadPool and Domino.
This just scratches the surface of the many creators at the Raleigh GalaxyCon. If comics are your thing, this is a great place to be. In fact, if you like most things Geek related, this is your place. So if you’re in the Raleigh area and want to have a great time with like minded, high brow intellectuals…there are probably some here among us Geeks. But there’s only one way to find out. Come out over the weekend to the Raleigh Convention Center and see for yourself. GeekVibesNation will be here to give you all the sights and sounds at the Raleigh GalaxyCon. It starts today. We hope to see you there.
