[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12666″ img_size=”634×423″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]CW has officially announced that the Ruby Rose led Batwoman series has been green lit and Game of Thrones director David Nutter has joined to film the pilot episode. According to Entertainment Weekly, Nutter is known for directing “The Rains of Castamere” episode which is famously known for being the “Red Wedding” event that saw Robb Stark and Catelyn Stark murdered by house Frey and house Bolton. Nutter will also helm several of the upcoming shows for the final season of Game of Thrones.  When it comes to DC he is no stranger as he also filmed pilots for Smallville, Supernatural, Flash,  and Arrow.

CW has released the official synopsis for Batwoman as well

“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (star Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

CW has hired Melrose Place showrunner Caroline Dries with Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter coming on board as executive producers.

As of now only the pilot has been ordered and according to CW the show will be reviewed for series order next season.

Are you excited to have Batwoman come to CW in her own series? Batwoman was a great part of the CW cross over event Elseworld’s and fans really seem to like Ruby Rose in the role of Kate Kane. With Gotham entering its final season maybe more characters from the world of Batman will show up if the series is picked up full time.
