Horror enthusiasts, prepare to explore one of the greatest “what if” stories in cinematic history. On January 7, 2025, Uncork’d Entertainment will release George A. Romero’s Resident Evil, an investigative documentary directed by Brandon Salisbury. The film promises to shed light on an unmade adaptation that could have redefined the survival horror genre.

    The Untold Story

In 1998, Constantin Film embarked on a journey to bring the iconic horror video game Resident Evil to the big screen. To helm the project, they turned to George A. Romero, the legendary filmmaker credited with revolutionizing the zombie genre through classics like Night of the Living Dead. Despite this dream pairing, Romero’s vision for the adaptation never came to fruition, leaving fans with endless speculation about what could have been.

    A Vision Brought to Life

Directed by Brandon Salisbury, the documentary dives into the mystery behind Romero’s unproduced Resident Evil. Drawing inspiration from acclaimed documentaries like Jodorowsky’s Dune, Salisbury weaves archival footage, previously unseen documents, and new interviews with industry insiders to create an immersive experience. Fans will finally gain insight into the creative process, the challenges, and the passion that surrounded Romero’s ambitious yet unrealized adaptation.

“George Romero gave birth to modern horror, the modern zombie, and ultimately Resident Evil,” says Salisbury. “I am honored to bring fans the untold story of his most important unmade project, to celebrate the legacy of the man that inspired me to pursue filmmaking as a career.”

    A Tribute to Romero’s Legacy

The documentary doesn’t just explore an unproduced film—it celebrates the legacy of George A. Romero and his enduring impact on the horror genre. Keith Leopard, President of Uncork’d Entertainment, shares the significance of this project:

“Uncork’d is honored to bring George A. Romero’s Resident Evil to fans who have long awaited the untold story behind this legendary, unmade project. This documentary pays homage to Romero’s incredible vision and the power of storytelling that transcends what could have been.”

George A. Romero’s Resident Evil will be available on Digital and On Demand starting January 7, 2025. Don’t miss this chance to uncover the mystery and celebrate the creative genius of a horror legend.
