Calling all dudes buckle up, because the dynamic duo of fast food is making a comeback in Good Burger 2! Join Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson) and the OG cashier Ed (Kel Mitchell) as they reunite at the present-day Good Burger with a hilarious new crew of employees. The laughs are bigger, the antics are crazier, and this time, Ed and Dex are on a mission to save the entire fast-food industry! Brace yourselves for cameo appearances from the original Good Burger and new faces as well! This extra-crispy release comes with over 30 minutes of special features, including an extended blooper reel. Order’s up for a nostalgic and side-splitting adventure!

    Video Quality

Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment brings Good Burger 2 to Blu-Ray with a vibrant 1080p video presentation. The image is clean and clear with a dazzling color palette radiating off the screen. The film impresses with some splashes of color within the costumes and production design which makes for a very striking image. The black levels are appropriately deep, but digital noise does prove to be a fleeting issue at certain moments in the film. Flesh tones are natural with subtle nuances showcased well in close-ups and medium shots. The presentation provides a substantial amount of depth on display, especially in the interior shots of the restaurant. This presentation delivers as consistently as any modern movie should on Blu-Ray. Paramount has done some fine work here.

    Audio Quality

The Blu-Ray comes with a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that executes everything it intends to do perfectly. Dialogue comes through clearly without ever getting muddled by competing voices or environmental factors. Everything is mixed ideally with directionality accurately rendered across all channels. The sounds of the world provide a notable amount of activity in the rear channels, and the low comes alive more than you might expect to deliver some rich texture. Music does a nice job of setting the buoyant mood of the narrative as the track fills the room in a truly immersive manner. This track honors the spirit of the movie with a terrific presentation. There are optional English SDH subtitles provided.

    Special Features

    • Home Of The Good Bloopers (Extended Version): An eight-minute collection of laughing fits, ruined takes, malfunctioning props, and more.
    • The Comfort Food Classic: A five-minute piece in which Keenan and Kel reflect on the legacy of the characters and the place they hold in the hearts of audience members.
    • Behind The Scenes with Kenan and Kel: An eight-minute featurette in which the ensemble discusses coming back to the series after so many years, the evolution of their characters, the returning faces, and more.
    • Meat The Employees: A two-and-a-half-minute introduction to some of the new members of the Good Burger family and their history with the franchise.
    • Q&A with the New Crew: A more in-depth seven-minute piece in which the new performers discuss what their characters do in the film, working with Kenan and Kel, the stunts in the film, and more.
    • Employee Training Video: A three-minute video that teaches you how to be a “model employee” if you are going to work at the iconic institution.
    • Good Burger Movie Recap: A five-minute condensed look at the original film.

    Final Thoughts

Good Burger 2 provides some functional mindless entertainment, but it is not a picture that stands on its own artistic merits. This project was created purely to indulge in nostalgia for an audience of a certain age, and it hits all of the same beats as the original film with an even glossier finish. The original film was no masterpiece of cinema, but if you hold it dear, you will probably generally enjoy this one. This one is not completely soulless, as the performers at least seem to be having fun, but it takes the easiest path at every turn. Paramount Picture Home Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray that sports fantastic A/V presentation and a decent array of special features. If you are a fan of the original film, it is at least worth a watch.

Good Burger 2 can be purchased directly through MovieZyng or various other online retailers.
