Grant Gustin Talks Superman and The Flash Team-Up

The Man of Steel will finally meet the Scarlet Speedster, in the Arrowverse anyways. Superman played by Tyler Hoechlin on CW’s Supergirl has only been featured in a handful of episodes but it seems his character will not only return for the crossover event with Lois Lane but he will also share some time with Grant Gustin’s Flash as well. Ever since Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen was introduced on the Arrow, we’ve looked forward to the mash-ups that the creators will come up with. Some of the best episodes are the ones where everyone gets together and it seems this year will be one of the most impactful. Bringing together Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, this team-up will introduce Batwoman, which will star Ruby Rose and set up for her solo series within the shared universe.

On top of also bringing in Lois Lane, Tyler Hoechlin will return as Superman in all three episodes. This means screen time with the Arrow and The Flash. Why do we love this idea so much? If you were a fan of the animated series Justice League growing up, you remember the iconic episode testing who was faster: the Flash or Superman. Ever since this team-up, it’s always fun seeing these two superheroes get together. The same scene was recreated in the mid-credit scene in the live-action Justice League, but I’m more excited to see CW’s version of bringing them together. Grant spoke with Entertainment Weekly about Superman and Flash being on screen together

“To see Flash and Superman together and to be one of the guys in the suits is something I’m definitely pretty excited about.”

While Grant Gustin is most excited for this team-up, he did admit he never believed it would actually happen:

“It did feel like something they would always save for the features, to be honest. But I feel like the Arrowverse has kind of been changing that stigma with the whole TV is the lesser medium. I think it kind of doesn’t matter these days with the streaming and content’s kind of everywhere. So, it is cool to see us kind of rise to even another level and bring all of us together for these crossovers. It’s pretty epic.”

The crossover event will begin on Sunday, December 9th at 8 pm.
