Gremlins Filmmaker Wants To Do Third Film, Creatures Would Be Puppets

Is Gremlins 3 still happening? In a recent interview with Collider, filmmaker Chris Columbus offered an update. Columbus wrote the first and second Gremlins films, which Spielberg produced and Joe Dante directed.

Columbus revealed the plans for a third Gremlins film:

“I would love to do it. I wrote a script, so there is an existing script. We’re working out some rights issues right now, so we’re just trying to figure out when the best time to make that film would be. I would still do it the same way – I would do it as tangible puppets, not CGI. Maybe having — you know we had one stop-motion scene in the first Gremlins, but I don’t think I’d use much CGI in Gremlins 3.”

Gremlins feels like one of those things that is beloved from back in the day. Would it work in today’s day and age? I do believe that fans would love to see a third one – especially if the third one stayed true to the originals and didn’t use a lot of CGI.

Would you want to see a third Gremlins?
