Have you ever wondered what goes on in Guillermo del Toro’s head when he creates his beautifully dark movies? If so, then you might get your answers soon, as ‘Frankenstein: Crafting a Tale Eternal’ is coming to The Old Selfridges Hotel, London, this autumn. This behind-the-scenes exhibition, running from October 17th to November 9th, offers a unique glimpse into the latest adaptation of Mary Shelley’s iconic novel and the director’s bold cinematic approach.

This immersive experience, which is a partnership between Netflix and LFF for Free, celebrates “del Toro’s visionary storytelling and the exceptional craftsmanship of his team. Diving deep into his elaborate filmmaking process, it will showcase an impressive collection of stunning props, artwork, costumes, Tiffany & Co. jewellery featured in the film and rare books curated by the firm Peter Harrington to honour Mary Shelley’s legacy.”

For del Toro, Frankenstein is so much more than an addition to his list of award-winning films. It’s the conclusion of a journey “that started at age seven, when I saw James Whale’s Frankenstein films for the first time. Gothic horror became my church, and Boris Karloff my Messiah. It is an honor to be able to invite people to take a closer look at how my incredible crafts team and I have brought Mary Shelley’s world to life on screen,” according to the Cronos and Pinocchio filmmaker himself.

We haven’t even shared the best Frankenstein news with you! ‘Frankenstein: Crafting a Tale Eternal’ is entirely free to attend. All you have to do is book your tickets via the Selfridges website (bookings open from 8 am BST Friday, September 12th) and then you’re ready to step into the eerie world of Shelley’s timeless masterpiece and del Toro’s upcoming gothic science fiction horror movie.

Frankenstein, starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, is out in selected cinemas on October 17th and available on Netflix from November 7th.
