Colorful graphic with bold text reading "GVN Talking Comics: Favorite Interviews of 2025" in a dynamic, comic book-inspired style.

Last year, I reflected on my favorite interviews from 2024. Well, 2025 was a banner year for Talking Comics as we were fortunate to conduct over 63 different interviews. For us math whizzes, that is basically over one every week. Just like last year, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities made possible by our amazing PR partners: SuperFan Promotions (Hanna Behedry, David Hyde, and Dustin Holland), Don’t Hide PR (Melissa Meszaros), The Lippon Group (Mary Grace Leto), and Mad Cave Studios (Frank Silva and James Faccinto), along with many others. So, let’s get to those interviews! (As usual, these are not listed in any particular order.)

Patrick McDonnell on ‘The Gift of Nothing’ And ‘The Gift of Everything’

A man holds a white dog, flanked by the covers of "The Gift of Nothing" and "The Gift of Everything" by Patrick McDonnell; text promotes a comics interview.

It is always a pleasure to speak again with the multi-award-winning cartoonist. This was no exception as he discussed his work with animals, his previous book, “Breaking the Chain: The Guard Dog Story,” and his two new books, “The Gift of Nothing, Anniversary Edition” and “The Gift of Everything.” Always a great conversation with Patrick.

GVN Talking Comics Interview: Legendary DC Artist Jorge Jiménez On His New Art Book With Clover Press

A promotional graphic for a comics interview featuring DC artist and writer Jorge Jiménez, including his photo, comic art, and Kickstarter details for his art book.

This year brought plenty of chances to chat with amazing artists who’ve put together incredible art collections for fans. One standout moment that had me totally geeking out was getting to talk with DC legend Jorge Jimenez. It was a real treat to hear about his career and check out some of the stunning pieces featured in Clover Press’ “The DC Art of Jorge Jimenez.”

GVN Talking Comics Interview: President And CEO of Kodansha USA Publishing Alvin Lu

A man is pictured between two book covers for "Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window" and its sequel, with text announcing an interview with Alvin Lu of Kodansha USA Publishing.

Every so often, we get the chance to chat with talented professionals who rarely have time for interviews. They’re usually busy focusing on their work and delivering high-quality projects to fans, letting their creations speak for themselves. That’s why it was such a pleasure to sit down with Alvin Lu, President and CEO of Kodansha USA. We discussed his creative origins, his position at Kodansha, and their latest releases.

GVN Talking Comics Interview: Author Kevin J. Anderson on Abrams ComicArts’ Dune: The Graphic Novel – The Complete 3-Book Boxed Set

Promotional graphic for an interview with author Kevin J. Anderson about "Dune: The Graphic Novel, The Complete 3-Book Boxed Set," featuring the box set, a photo of Anderson, and comic panels.

Science fiction author Kevin J. Anderson has published over 140 books, with more than 50 appearing on U.S. and international bestseller lists. His works have sold more than 23 million copies worldwide. Among his numerous titles are work on such franchises as Star Wars, StarCraft, Titan A.E., and The X-Files. Additionally, he co-authored the Dune prequel series with Brian Herbert. So, it was with great excitement that we sat down with the author to discuss his career and his work on the Three-Box Set of Abrams ComicArts “Dune the Graphic Novel.”

GVN Talking Comics Interview: Writer And Colorist Taki Soma For ComiXology Originals Six-Issue Series ‘Alienated’

Promotional graphic for a Talking Comics interview with writer/colorist Taki Soma about the comic "Alienated," featuring the comic cover, a photo of Taki Soma, and issue credits.

I’ve always been fascinated by creators who take on multiple roles, and Taki Soma is a perfect example. For her Comixology Originals series, Alienated, Taki managed the writing, colors, and lettering —a remarkable feat for any artist. Naturally, I was curious about how she balanced everything and what challenges she encountered along the way.

GVN Talking Comics Interview – Writer Jordan Clark for AhoyComics ‘Ancestral Recall’

Promotional graphic for a "Talking Comics Interview" with writer Jordan Clark about Ahoy Comics' 'Ancestral Recall,' featuring Clark's photo and comic art.

I couldn’t describe this conversation with writer Jordan Clark as well as my opening paragraph for his interview:

One of my favorite things about comic creators is the shared experience that I have with so many of them. Take the talented Jordan Clark. He spent his youth taking advantage of reading any comics he found that excited him. It had nothing to do with the issue number, or the collectibility of the book. It was based on the cover, the characters, and the story. I so relate to that. It didn’t matter who published it; if the cover caught my attention and the story was good, I was thrilled.

Jordan then regaled me with his creative history and all that went into his wondrous series for Ahoy, Ancestral Recall.

GVN Talking Comics: Denis Kitchen On Oddly Compelling Documentary From Tinto Press

A digital interview poster features Denis Kitchen with comic-related logos and text promoting a documentary Kickstarter campaign.

Ever now and then, you meet a creator who has left a lasting mark on the history of comics and inspired countless others. Denis Kitchen is one of those iconic figures, celebrated not just for his classic comic creations but also for championing the industry through his leadership of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. It was a pleasure talking with Denis about his impressive career, his work with the CBLDF, and the new documentary that highlights his contributions to comics.

GVN Talking Comics Interview: Melissa F. Olson on Ahoy Comics’ Archaic TPB

Promotional graphic for a "Talking Comics" interview with writer Melissa F. Olson about Ahoy Comics' "Archaic TPB," featuring book covers, Olson's photo, and release details.

It is a fact that we never take for granted when we are offered the chance to talk to a talented creator more than once. One of the benefits is that sometimes, when closing the interview, they might drop a sneakpeek of a future project. That was indeed the case when we first talked to Melissa F. Olson and she mentioned a project underway that became Ahoy Comics Archaic. Fast foward to 2025 and we enjoyed a conversation about what she had been up to since our first chat and this exciting project.

GVN Talking Comics Interview – DC Comics Jeremy Adams

A promotional graphic for a "Talking Comics Interview" with DC writer Jeremy Adams, featuring comic covers of The Flash and Green Lantern, and a portrait of Jeremy Adams.

With the hectic schedules and logistical challenges many creators face, email is often the go-to for interviews. However, occasionally, we have the opportunity to chat face-to-face over Zoom. This list begins with my conversation with the talented writer Jeremy Adams. As always, we discussed his creative beginnings, his work in television, and his collaborations with DC Comics.

GVN Interview with Brian Volk-Weiss Talking ‘ROBOFORCE’

A promotional graphic featuring Brian Volk-Weiss with Robo Force animated series posters and logos, plus a GVN interview announcement and images of animated robots.

One of the more entertaining interviews I had the fortune of doing was with Brian Volk-Weiss, the man behind Nacelle’s RoboForce—the first in a series of animated properties that will comprise their Nacellverse. Brian was energetic, funny, and a delight to talk to.

GVN Interview: Joel Stoffer (Enoch from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D)

Promotional image for “Martin & Kathy’s Coffee Binge” featuring a photo of Joel Stoffer, two cartoon hosts, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. logos and graphics.

I enjoyed this interview for several reasons. First, it was a great opportunity to collaborate with my wife again for a special episode of “Martin & Kathy’s Coffee Binge.” Next, we got the chance to talk with the amazingly talented Joel Stoffer, best known for his role as Enoch in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We couldn’t have been more excited about this one.

GVN Interview: William Katt for his Audio Book Performance of Karl Kolchak the Night Stalker

Promotional graphic for a Geek Vibes Nation YouTube interview with William Katt, narrator for "Kolchak: The Night Stalker," featuring his photo and logos.

I was a huge fan of “Karl Kolchak: The Night Stalker,” both its made-for-television films and the series based on them. I was also a fan of the show “The Greatest American Hero,” which starred William Katt. I was thrilled to catch up with the actor and chat about both topics. William narrated the audiobook version of Jeff Rice’s original Night Stalker novel, and it made for a great conversation with such a talented performer.

So Many More to Choose From

Selecting a small sample from the over 60 interviews for 2025 was a challenging task. All the creators were open and shared their stories and careers with the charm and friendliness I have come to expect from them. It has been a great year for interviews, and I hope we can achieve even better results in 2026. We extend our sincerest gratitude to all who allowed us to chat with them, and to you, our readers, for following along.
