Breaking Glass Pictures is set to release the horror-comedy Hayride to Hell on Digital and On Demand starting September 24. The film stars horror legends Bill Moseley and Kane Hodder, both renowned for their iconic roles in the genre. Hayride to Hell is directed by Dan Lantz and brings together a blend of dark humor and brutal horror in a rural setting.
Hayride to Hell follows Farmer Sam, portrayed by Bill Moseley, as he faces off against corrupt locals who are determined to take over his family’s 200-year-old farm. When the locals, led by Sheriff Jubel (Kane Hodder), push Sam too far, he retaliates with brutal force, turning the tables on those who sought to exploit him. The film is set in the fictional Willis County on the Coxe Family Farm, making the rural location integral to the story’s tension.
Bill Moseley, known for his performances in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses, takes on the role of the vengeful Farmer Sam. His portrayal of unhinged and intense characters makes him a perfect fit for the lead in this horror tale. Joining him is Kane Hodder, famous for playing Jason Voorhees in four of the Friday the 13th films, as the film’s main antagonist, Sheriff Jubel. Together, these two actors elevate Hayride to Hell with their combined experience in the genre.
The film is directed by Dan Lantz, whose previous work includes Alice and the Vampire Queen and Bloodrunners. The screenplay is written by Kristina Chadwick and Robert Lange. The production was filmed on Lange’s family-owned Sugartown Strawberries Farm in Lavern, Pennsylvania, a property that has been in the Lange family since 1896. The setting not only adds authenticity to the rural atmosphere but also serves as a nod to the film’s deep connection to the land and legacy themes.
Hayride to Hell had its premiere at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, in 2022. This location, famous for hosting The Blob’s original screening, provides a historical connection to horror cinema. The rural farm setting of the film complements its storyline of land disputes and revenge, while also drawing from real-world locations for its eerie atmosphere.
Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass Pictures, has expressed his excitement about acquiring and releasing Hayride to Hell, stating: “We are thrilled to add Hayride to Hell to our roster of films. Kristina Chadwick and Robert Lange have crafted both a terrifying and exhilarating story that we believe will resonate with horror fans around the world.” Wolff emphasized the strong storytelling and performances that make this film a unique addition to their lineup.
The supporting cast includes Graham Wolfe, Allyson Malandra, Denise Parella McDonald, Jared Michael Delaney, Shelby Hightower, Melanie Martyn, Brooke Stacy Mills, Aaron Dalla Villa, and Cedric “Budge” Casimiro. Special effects for the film were created by Impulse-FX, ensuring that the visual elements match the intense atmosphere of the story.
With its release, Hayride to Hell aims to draw in fans of horror who appreciate a mix of gritty revenge, rural drama, and dark comedy. The film will be available on Digital and On Demand on September 24.
