HBO Max Horror Comes Home promotional artwork for Halloween 2026

HBO Max is making it easy to spend October with the lights off. Its “Horror Comes Home” collection brings together recent horror releases, familiar franchises and older favorites, with Backrooms already streaming and Evil Dead Burn arriving October 2.

The Halloween hub is available throughout the month, offering plenty of options whether your idea of a good night involves an A24 nightmare, a Final Destination marathon or another visit to the Overlook Hotel. HBO is also adding The Pet Cemetery Murders: A Ghost Story, a new original documentary series premiering October 11.

Backrooms and Evil Dead Burn Lead the New Arrivals

The Halloween rollout began in September with the streaming debut of A24’s Backrooms. In its announcement, HBO Max describes the film as A24’s highest-grossing release both domestically and worldwide, making it one of the collection’s biggest draws.

Evil Dead Burn joins the service on October 2, alongside a library that includes Evil Dead (2013), Evil Dead II and Evil Dead Rise. That gives anyone planning a Deadite-filled evening several places to start.

Other recent titles already available, according to HBO Max’s announcement, include Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, The Strangers: Chapter 2 and Undertone. Later in the month, The Pet Cemetery Murders: A Ghost Story adds a documentary series to the mix on October 11.

Recent Horror Favorites Share Space With the Classics

The collection goes well beyond its newest additions. Weapons, Sinners, Trap, Midsommar and Hereditary are among the modern titles HBO Max is highlighting.

Bring Her Back is another option for viewers who want something particularly unsettling. GVN’s review examined the film’s disturbing treatment of grief and Sally Hawkins’ performance, making it a useful read before deciding whether that is the kind of horror you want for the evening.

For repeat visits to familiar nightmares, the lineup also includes films from The Conjuring, Final Destination, It, Insidious, Blair Witch and The Strangers. Older favorites include Carrie, The Exorcist, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Poltergeist (1982), Gremlins and The Shining.

Pick a Marathon—or Let Essential Horror Do the Choosing

HBO Max is organizing the hub around collections including “Must-Scream Horror,” “A Killer Movie Marathon,” “Haunted Hall of Fame” and “Creature Features.” A further collection, “What’s Around The Corner,” debuts October 2, while “Trick or Treat” is also among the themed selections being promoted.

There is a practical difference between the lists. “A Killer Movie Marathon” groups together several Final Destination films alongside slashers and the X trilogy. “Creature Features” makes room for everything from Gremlins to The Wolfman, while “Haunted Hall of Fame” leans into the supernatural with The Conjuring, Evil Dead and Talk to Me.

For viewers who would rather skip the scrolling, HBO Max has also introduced “Essential Horror,” a virtual channel featuring a curated mix of films and series from its horror catalog.

Below are the selections HBO Max supplied for five of its Halloween collections. These are curated lists, rather than a complete inventory of every horror title on the service.
