HBO Will Develop Aegon’s Conquest With ‘The Batman II’ Scribe Mattson Tomlin

HBO’s House of the Dragon reignited fans’ desire to be immersed in George R.R. Martin’s world of A Song of Ice and Fire. The only member of House Targaryen we really saw in the Game of Thrones show was Daenerys, House of the Dragon has viewers fully engrossed in the world of dragon riders. And while the average TV watcher loves the drama of HOTD, fans of the book series know there’s another great moment in Targaryen history that deserves a live-action adaptation.

    It’s Happening!

Luckily for fans, Aegon’s Conquest is being adapted into a brand new upcoming TV series. HBO will partner with writer Mattson Tomlin to develop the series. The reign of the Targaryens wouldn’t have existed if it weren’t for Aegon Targaryen and his two sister-wives (if you’re a fan of this world, you know how the Targaryens are) Rhaenys and Visenya taking their dragons and conquering Westeros. Before Aegon became the first Targaryen leader of Westeros, each corner of the continent had its own kings who constantly warred with each other. It’s a bloody, compelling, and epic tale.

Tomlin is pretty on-demand now considering he’s the scribe for the upcoming sequel to The Batman. This show and the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight show that the love and desire people have for this world has not died down, despite the horribly done Game of Thrones series finale. Though, have you guys seen the pictures for the unaired pilot for the now-canceled Bloodmoon series? It would have been nice to see what they were cooking up for that; hopefully, Aegon’s Conquest doesn’t suffer the same fate.

    Do Your Homework

While George R.R. Martin hasn’t completed his Game of Thrones book series, so we don’t know how he intends to conclude Daenerys’ story, Martin has fully fleshed out Aegon’s Conquest. Prior to reading the books, I thought he really loved the Starks, but it’s very clear that it’s the Targaryens that he’s put the most thought into. You can read all about Aegon’s Conquest in The World of Ice & Fire, The Rise of the Dragon, and the most detailed version in Fire & Blood.

What do you think and who do you want to play Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya?
