The Hunger Games have been popular in both book and film form. It should be no surprise that Hollywood would want to continue to capitalize on that hype. That means prequels! Lionsgate has revealed that they are working on a prequel movie just as writer Suzanne Collins is getting ready to release her The Ballad of Songbirds and Snake novel, May 19th.
This will be the movie that will be turned into a movie with Francis Lawrence brought in as the director. Screenwriter Michael Arndt and producer Nina Jacobson will also return.
So far, there’s no casting news for the prequel.
Chairman of Lionsgate, Joe Drake; put out a statement:
“Suzanne’s new book has been worth the wait. It offers everything fans could hope for and expect from The Hunger Games while also breaking new ground and introducing an entirely new canvas of characters.”
The prequel will center around an eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow, before he became the president of Panem.
