Horror fans, rejoice! Mike Flanagan’s critically acclaimed home invasion thriller, Hush, is making a long-awaited return. Originally released on Netflix in 2016, the film has been unavailable for streaming or purchase in any format. But that’s about to change. On August 27, 2024, Hush will be released digitally for the first time by Shout! Studios in collaboration with Flanagan, Intrepid Pictures, and Blumhouse.

Starting August 27, Hush will be available for purchase and rental across all major digital entertainment platforms in the United States and Canada. This marks the film’s first availability since it was pulled from Netflix and left fans without access.

Director Mike Flanagan expressed his excitement about the digital release, saying, “Hush is one of the projects that is closest to my heart, and I cannot think of a better home than Shout! I’m so glad that people will finally be able to rent or purchase the film digitally. I’ve always loved how Shout! Studios champions and treasures their titles, and I also cannot wait for what’s to come… fans of Hush are going to have much to celebrate!”

Hush features a stellar cast, including Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass), John Gallagher Jr. (The Newsroom, 10 Cloverfield Lane), Samantha Sloyan (Midnight Mass, Grey’s Anatomy), and Michael Trucco (Battlestar Galactica, The Fall of the House of Usher). The film, written by Flanagan and Siegel, was produced by Trevor Macy of Intrepid Pictures and Jason Blum of Blumhouse.

Hush tells the gripping story of a deaf writer who retreats to a secluded home in the woods to live a solitary life. Her peace is shattered when a masked killer appears at her window, forcing her to fight for her life in silence. The film was lauded for its innovative premise and intense suspense, earning a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Stephen King praised Hush, likening it to classic horror films Halloween and Wait Until Dark, calling it “white knuckle time.” Vanity Fair described it as “a tense, breathless horror film.”

The digital release of Hush is significant for several reasons. It not only makes the film accessible to a wider audience but also highlights the continued relevance and impact of Flanagan’s work in the horror genre. Shout! Studios, known for their dedication to preserving and promoting quality films, is the perfect partner to bring Hush back to fans.

Mark your calendars for August 27, 2024, when Hush will finally be available for digital purchase and rental. This long-awaited release is a major win for horror enthusiasts and fans of Mike Flanagan’s masterful storytelling. Don’t miss your chance to experience—or re-experience—this modern horror classic.
