The chosen weapon of the Jedi Knights was first introduced to fans in A New Hope and fans have loved them ever since. But let’s face it, the lightsaber duels of the original trilogy were not some of the best choreographed. In fact when we first saw Vader vs Obi-Wan, as iconic of a duel it was, the fight felt and looked clunky and slow.
The prequels made lightsaber duels look awesome and as fans we asked ourselves, “Where has this been the whole time?” The Darth Maul/Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon fight is still one of the best ever. The Obi-Wan/Vader duel on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith was one for the ages.
A YouTube channel named FXitinPost has finally competed the Vader/Obi-Wan duel from A New Hope they teased a while back. The footage which you can check out below recreates that fateful Death Star duel that would ultimately be the end for the Dark Lord of the Sith former master. FXitinPost has taken actual footage and blended it in with highly detailed VFX footage that helps give the lightsaber battle so much more. We see Vader with all of his hatred, tap into the dark side and wield it against Obi-Wan. We see Obi-Wan getting off some sweet moves as well.
I think this video is very well done and you could see they took their time crafting it before releasing it. I hope we can get more fun Star Wars videos from the channel.
