Two men stand facing each other at night; one is a police officer with a bruised face, wearing a uniform, while the other wears a brown shirt.

IFC Entertainment Group (including IFC Films, Shudder, and RLJE Films) just dropped their 2026 horror-heavy film slate – and it’s packed with festival darlings, A-list talent, and fresh nightmares guaranteed to dominate genre conversations all year.

From street gang vampires to witchy mall cults, here’s your full guide to the must-watch titles hitting theaters and Shudder in 2026.

Early 2026 Releases – Mark Your Calendars

    Night Patrol (Theaters January 16 – RLJE/Shudder)

Director Ryan Prows unleashes a wild horror-action hybrid starring Jermaine Fowler, Justin Long, RJ Cyler, rapper Freddie Gibbs, CM Punk, YG, Flying Lotus, and Dermot Mulroney. An LAPD officer uncovers a horrific secret in a police task force, forcing uneasy alliances with street gangs. Official selection at Fantastic Fest and Beyond Fest.

Mother of Flies (Shudder January 23)

The Adams family (Zelda, John, Toby Poser, and Lulu Adams) return with this folk-horror gem about a dying woman seeking dark death magic in the woods. Winner of the Cheval Noir at Fantasia and official selection at Fantastic Fest and Sitges.

    Whistle (Theaters February 6 – IFC/Shudder)

A person with dark hair and a green jacket holds a metallic skull close to their face in a hallway lined with red lockers.

Corin Hardy directs Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Nick Frost, and more in this teen slasher: High schoolers find an ancient Aztec death whistle that summons their future deaths. Fantastic Fest selection with a brand-new trailer out now.

Synopsis: A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion.

    Honey Bunch (Shudder February 13)

A man with blood on his fingers smiles while holding his hands up, facing a person whose face is partially covered by a cloth.

Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli’s mind-bending sci-fi thriller stars Grace Glowicki, Ben Petrie, Jason Isaacs, and Katie Dickie. A comatose woman undergoes experimental treatments at a remote facility – but her husband’s motives grow sinister. Played major festivals including Berlin, TIFF, and Sitges.

Synopsis: When Diana wakes from a coma with fragmented memories, she and her husband seek experimental treatments at a remote facility. As the procedures intensify, their marriage is put to the test and Diana begins to question her husband’s true motives.

This Is Not a Test (Theaters February 20 – IFC/Shudder)

Adam MacDonald’s YA horror follows Olivia Holt and classmates barricaded in their high school during an apocalyptic event outside.

Synopsis: Sloane and a small group of her classmates take cover in their high school to escape their suddenly apocalyptic hometown. As danger relentlessly pounds on the doors, Sloane begins to see the world through the eyes of people who actually want to live and takes matters into her own hands.

    Dolly (Theaters March 6 – IFC/Shudder)

Rod Blackhurst’s survival horror with Fabianne Therese, Seann William Scott, and Ethan Suplee: A woman fights a monstrous abductor obsessed with raising her as their child.

Synopsis: A young woman, Macy, fights for survival after being abducted by a deranged, monster-like figure who wants to raise Macy as their child.

Coming Later in 2026 (Dates TBD)

    Forbidden Fruits (Theaters – IFC/Shudder)

A group of women in clothing.

Meredith Alloway directs an all-star cast: Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain, and Gabrielle Union. A secret witchy femme cult in a mall store spirals into bloody chaos.

Synopsis: Free Eden employee Apple secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours – with fellow fruits Cherry and Fig. But when new hire Pumpkin challenges their performative sisterhood, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.

    The Holy Boy (Shudder)

Paolo Strippoli’s thriller (Audience Award winner at Fantastic Fest) uncovers dark secrets in Italy’s “happiest town” revolving around a boy whose hugs relieve pain – at a terrifying cost.

Synopsis: Sergio, a teacher tormented by his past, is transferred to Remis, a secluded village known as the happiest town in Italy. But Sergio soon discovers that behind the town’s joyful facade lies a disturbing secret: Each week, the villagers gather to hug Matteo, an introverted fifteen-year-old whose embrace can free one of all pain and sorrow. As Sergio uncovers that the village’s devotion to Matteo is far from benevolent, his attempt to rescue the boy known as the Angel of Remis ignites the community’s vengeful nature.

Other highlights: Bodycam (found-footage cop cover-up), Crazy Old Lady (Spanish-language home invasion terror), The Mortuary Assistant (game adaptation with demonic possession), Motor City (Alan Ritchson revenge thriller), Over Your Dead Body (Jason Segel/Samara Weaving dark comedy murder plot), and River (Jane Levy sibling survival horror).

A muscular man with a beard and tattoos, wearing a white tank top, stands in front of prison bars in a brightly lit cell.

2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for indie horror – which one are you most hyped for?
