Imelda Staunton Set For Another Role In the World of Witchcraft and Wizardry?

EXCLUSIVE: Imelda Staunton needs to introduction when it comes to Harry Potter fans. In that franchise, Staunton played the cruel and vile, Dolores Umbridge. Fans waited for the moment she got what was coming to her in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. But Staunton is a terrific actress with several notches in her belt. She has appeared in Shakespeare in Love, Vera Drake and most recently Downton Abbey. She is also set to play Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s The Crown. Now we have heard that Imelda might be making a trip back to the world of Witchcraft and Wizardry, no it is not Harry Potter, but the land of Oz.  We have heard from a very reliable source that director Stephen Daldry is interested in casting Mrs. Staunton in his upcoming film, Wicked. Daldry apparently wants Staunton for the role of Madame Morrible. In the land of OZ. Madame Morrible is a witch and the Headmistress of Crage Hall at Shiz University. She also recruits young girls as soldiers and spies for the Wizard himself.

Daldry has been working on getting Wicked production since 2012 but set backs continue to plague this film. Coronavirus is the latest plague as Universal removed it from its set date of December 22. 2021. The film still seems poised to get made but when is the question. Also no offer has been made to Imelda nor have their been any talks that we know of. I think Imelda would be great for the role but the process is still very early on. We for sure will keep digging for more info and bring it to you as we have it.

Are you a fan of Wicked? What do you think about Imelda Staunton possibly being cast as Madame Morrible?
