Popular 1990’s comedy/drama Ally McBeal is looking for a revival. According to reports, there’s an order for a limited-series revival of David E. Kelley’s show.
This is all in the early stages of development. It’s also reported that Calista Flockhart is being eyed to return as Ally McBeal. For the young ones out there who may not know, Ally McBeal followed the titular character as she worked as a lawyer in a Boston law firm called Cage and Fish. Like many 90s shows, the series followed Ally’s romantic and personal life – though the legal proceedings were the driving forces in the show.
David E. Kelley is expected to be involved in this new wave of Ally McBeal. This will most likely be in an executive producer position, as he revealed in 2018 that he wouldn’t write a revival:
“I’d be open to the idea of Ally McBeal being done again, but I don’t think it should be done by me. If it were going to be done, it really should be done by a woman,” Kelley told THR in 2018. “If it’s going to be new, it should be new and different. And I did it: 100 hours.”
Ally McBeal was huge in the 90s. It’ll be interesting the kind of viewership a revival would get. What do you think of this news?
