James McAVoy Jokes That He Should Be The Future Jean Luc Picard

As any X-Men fan can tell you, James McAvoy  is no stranger to playing a young Patrick Stewart. He has done so previously as Professor X in the X-Men series. (As much confusion as that brings to Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool). So it would come as no surprise that if an opportunity ever arose to play a young Jean Luc Picard, McAvoy is all over that. He made his intentions clear in an interview with Jimmy Fallon earlier this month. This came about after a spoof film McAVoy participated in where he played Picard.

Jimmy, that is the only world that exists in which I will play Jean-Luc Picard. If they don’t hire me, I’m gonna make it on my phone… I’m calling it right now, I’m doing the virtual lockdown equivalent of rubbing my scent all over Patrick’s face and saying this territory is mine. All the other bald actors can f*** off, it’s me.

While I am not sure Ser Patrick would appreciate McAvoy marking his territory in his face, it certainly wouldn’t take a leap to see him in that role. Should it ever transpire. Even if it’s just on his phone. Would you accept McAvoy as a young Jean Luc Picard? If not, should the role come up, who would you like in the part?
