Jason Momoa Reportedly Offered The Role of Knuckles in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’

Ever since 2020’s ‘Sonic the Hedgehog‘ became one of the surprise hits of the year, grossing over $319 million against a roughly $90 million budget, much discussion has taken place over what new places the sequel would go. And after the post-credit scene which showcased Sonic’s sidekick tails much discussion began over who would play another iconic character from the Sonic universe, Knuckles.  And we may now have our answer.

According to the Illuminerdi the role of Knuckles has now been offered to ‘Aquaman‘ himself, Jason Momoa, and it is up to the actor whether or not he wishes to accept the role. Knuckles is a huge fan favorite among those who invest in the Sonic universe, known for being the arguably the strongest character among the roster of enhanced wildlife characters. Among his arsenal is the ability to glide and climb up walls as well as being a skilled fighter utilizing his spiked hands. While he starts off as an antagonist to the titular hedgehog over the time he becomes more of a rival and ally rather than foe. Being the last surviving member of his race also provides an avenue for very engaging storytelling with the character. And it is very fun to imagine Jason Momoa providing his signature high-energy but also gruff demeanor to the role.

After becoming the highest grossing video game film in the North American box office expectations are high for the sequel which also anticipates the return of Ben Schwartz as Sonic, James Marsden as his human ally Tom, and Jim Carrey as the scene stealing villain Dr. Robotnik. Voice actress Colleen O’Shaughnessey returned to lend her voice to Tails (a role she had voiced in the games since 2014) but it is unknown if they will keep her in the role or pursue a celebrity voice.

How excited are you for the sequel to ‘Sonic’ and do you think Jason Momoa is a good pick for the role of Knuckles?
