Sony Pictures’ The Man From Toronto just lost Jason Statham.
The upcoming action comedy is supposed to begin production in four to six weeks, but now they will have to find someone to replace him. The reasoning behind Statham’s departure is creative differences with the studio. According to reports, Statham wanted the movie to be rated R, while Sony wanted it to be PG-13.
That family-friendlier rating must not have pleased Statham, as he left both the movie and WME agency. Deadline reports that Statham did not reach the point where his pay or play deal “would have been activated”. This means he would have gotten a paycheck whether or not he stared in the movie.
Who could step in Statham’s shoes for this film, which also stars Kevin Hart?
