Jay Baruchel’s Random Acts of Violence Finally Gets a Trailer

Jay Baruchel’s Random Acts of Violence is finally getting its due and a trailer! Random Acts of Violence will debut on the horror-focused streaming service Shudder on August 20th. It will have a limited theatrical release in Canada on July 31st via Elevation Pictures. The trailer comes provided by THR, so make sure you check it out below!

Random Acts of Violence is based on the comic by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray. The story focuses on a successful comic book creator named Todd, who is played by Jesse Williams. In the story, he searches for an ending for a series of his that focuses on a serial killer. While on a road trip, Todd is finding out that the murders from his comic are being carried out in real-life. Baruchel plays Todd’s closest friend and business partner and joins Jordana Brewster and Niamh Wilson.

This project has been in the making since 2011, with Baruchel and writing partner Jesse Chabot there since the beginning. Baruchel recalls:

“Our first draft, I don’t even know that either of us were even thirty yet. It’s a disfunction of being in your twenties, to think that you’re not going to learn anything else. To think that, ‘alright, I’m in the mix now. This is it, and this is the grown-up I’m going to be.’ It’s just not like that. Our POVs had shifted and our beliefs had shifted.”
