Fans of Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, rejoice! According to Clement, the two are developing a new TV series – one that’s fairly different than what they’ve done before.
In an interview with EW, Clement discussed the duo’s new action-adventure long-form comedy, saying:
“Taika and I are working on a new series right now which we just started writing. I can’t tell you much about it yet, but what’s fun about it and what makes it exciting for me is it’s something I always wanted to do which is long-form episodes in a sitcom. It’s an action-adventure comedy. It’ll be different from what I’ve usually done. I’ve made three sitcoms now, and I hope this one is still funny but more of an adventure series.”
Further Expansions in the What We Do in the Shadows Universe?
Elsewhere in the interview, Clement expressed that it was currently unlikely audiences would see further installments in the What We Do in the Shadows universe beyond the FX show and the upcoming Wellington Paranormal.
“We have talked about things in the past but I don’t know how realistic it is. We’re pausing on [Wellington Paranormal], we’re not sure we’ll be back for a fifth season.”
Clement had been a writer and director for the FX series in its first two seasons but stepped away from the series for its upcoming third season. He currently serves as a writer and a director for Wellington Paranormal, which premieres on The CW on July 11 (having already aired three seasons in New Zealand, with a fourth on the way).
