Martin Kove may be best known for his role as John Kreese in the Karate Kid/Cobra Kai franchise, but his son Jesse Kove is equally making a name for himself. Geek Vibes Nation spoke with Jesse about three years ago about his small role on the Netflix series Cobra Kai, as well as other projects he was working on. So, it’s nice to see Jesse back to work and sitting down with our friends over at the Kinda Nerdy Girls to talk about his dad, Magnum P.I., and more!

Find the transcript for the interview below:

KJ: Jesse, your father Martin has been a frequent guest on our show, and he always speaks highly of you. How does it feel to have such a supportive father?

JESSE: I do. Because I’m equally a proud son. But, it is always nice to hear. It’s very humbling.

KJ: You recently worked on the series finale of Magnum PI. Can you tell us about your experience?

JESSE: It was so much fun. It’s actually the series finale. This was the last episode of the series. So I closed it out. Jay Hernandez and I, you know, we went head to head in this episode and it was just so much fun. You know, we finished it with this huge brawl in this elevator. We had a huge fight scene, which was so much fun. And it was just great. I loved filming in Honolulu. It was incredible.

KJ: You seem to excel in roles involving action. Can you elaborate on your affinity for such roles?

JESSE: Yeah, I do. I do. I love it. It’s always fun for me and very exciting. So I definitely look for those kind of roles.

KJ: Your project Far Haven has recently been released. Can you share some details about it?

JESSE: Yeah, Far Haven was just released on Amazon, iTunes, and it’s also available on DVD and Walmart right now. Really fun action. of Western that we shot in Arizona. We’ve got an incredible cast, really fun story… And, you know, you come to learn that it’s actually my dad’s character who’s doing this behind everyone’s back. It’s a really, really great story.

KJ: It’s impressive that you get to work with your father. How do you navigate the professional dynamic?

JESSE: You know, it used to be harder for me in the very beginning when I first started out, and then I realized it was just, you know, the artist helping me. And then I got over that pretty quickly. And now it’s just like two kids having a great time together.

KJ: Speaking of favorites, which actor would you root for in the Kinda Nerdy Network Awards?

JESSE: I would definitely probably Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us.

KJ: Are there any particular franchises or genres you aspire to be a part of?

JESSE: I would love to be on a show called The Witcher, which would be so much fun… Also, if they ever did a Harry Potter TV series, that would be the ultimate dream for me.

KJ: Given your interest in sci-fi, would you be keen on joining the Marvel universe?

JESSE: Always. I love anything sci-fi. I actually did a pilot recently that was all about a super soldier in the future that just takes on the government and goes traveling through space and earth and different planets.
