Johnny Knoxville, the iconic face behind the Jackass franchise, has hinted at the possibility of a Jackass 5 in the future. In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Knoxville shared that he’s constantly brainstorming new ideas for potential stunts, even though he doesn’t currently feel the burning desire to dive back into the world of Jackass. He likened the urge to make another installment to a fever that needs to be quelled by filming another movie.
Despite Knoxville’s ongoing brainstorming sessions, the fate of Jackass 5 remains uncertain. Knoxville emphasized that the right circumstances need to align for everyone involved to commit to another film. He admitted to jotting down ideas in his Notes app, storing them away for potential future use.
“Uh No, Jackass is like a feeling that you get, and you have to extinguish by doing another one, I don’t have that feeling right now, but I still write ideas for Jackass all the time just because I can’t help it. I get an idea, I’ll just write it down and email it to myself. So I still write just in case, but I don’t know if there will be enough.”
However, one significant factor that might delay or alter plans for Jackass 5 is Johnny Knoxville’s own physical health. Knoxville’s friend and fellow Jackass star, Steve-O, expressed concerns about Knoxville’s safety during the filming of Jackass Forever. Steve-O admitted that seeing Knoxville endure injuries, particularly to his head, took some of the enjoyment out of filming for him. As the cast members age, the risks associated with performing extreme stunts become more pronounced, prompting Steve-O to advocate for Knoxville’s well-being.
“It’s not fun to watch Knoxville get hit in the head any more. I wrote this text to the whole cast that day, thanking Knoxville for the sacrifices he’s made for this team, and also begging that he stops with the brain trauma. It was one of my more serious and sincere messages.”
In summary, while Johnny Knoxville continues to entertain the notion of a Jackass 5 and generates ideas for potential stunts, various factors, including the health and well-being of the cast, may influence the eventual realization of another installment in the beloved franchise.
