JoJo Rabbit’s Sam Rockwell Channeled Bill Murray for His Performance

The Golden Globes came and they went. There were some real successes and some snubs. I’d argue that one snub is actor Sam Rockwell not winning for his role as Bob Fosse in Fosse/Verdon. His co-star Michelle Williams took home an award for her part as Gwen Verdon.

Before the show, Rockwell and Leslie Bibb took their place on the red carpet and got to talk to Ryan Seacrest. The TV personality asked the Oscar winner about his role as Fosse, to which Rockwell admitted to going through a lot of training for the part:

“A lot of training. I’m a half-assed breakdancer. The choreographers made it happen.”

Another Rockwell project that was nominated was JoJo Rabbit, where Rockwell played the eccentric Captain Klenzendorf. While speaking with Seacrest, Rockwell praised Taika Waititi and revealed his inspiration for the role:

“Taika’s great at comedy. It was like Bill Murray as a gay Nazi, that’s pretty much what I did.”

Have you seen Jojo Rabbit or Fosse/Verdon?
