Joker was one of the most talked about film in 2019. Directed by Todd Phillips, it starred Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character. The movie was a solo-origin story that really dove into the mental state of Arthur Fleck, who went on to become Batman’s greatest foe. Joker definitely had ties to DC comics, but really was in a world of its own, which paid off immensely. It did incredibly well in the box office and was nominated for multiple awards, with Phoenix winning an Oscar for his portrayal.
