Jordan Peele’s ‘Candyman’ Casts Aquaman Villain

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”16526″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]While you may know Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta from DC’s Aquaman, it seems that we’ll soon be knowing him as Candyman in Jordan Peele’s version of a horror story classic. There’s no deal done yet, but the actor is in talks right now to play the titular character and let’s just say, this would be a great casting decision. We trust Peele in all of his ventures, as Get Out was one of the best modern day thrillers and his upcoming movie Us and TV show The Twilight Zone look fantastic.

The newest Candyman is being described as a “spiritual sequel” to the original. We’re returning to the neighborhood where the legend of Candyman began, which is now a gentrified section of Chicago where the housing projects once were located in. Candyman originally released in 1992 and the sequel so to speak will hit theaters on June 12, 2020, with production on the film expected to begin next spring.
