Video Quality
Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One comes to 4K UHD Blu-Ray with a 2160p transfer that is impressive with a unique visual style within the DCAU. This disc provides some much-appreciated improvements over the Blu-Ray in areas including more nuance within the colors and the elimination of almost all digital anomalies. This feature blends the established aesthetic of the RWBY world with our DC team for an animation style shifting more three-dimensional and overtly digital. This disc serves up terrific line detail and more distinct shading, which gives these characters greater definition. This presentation showcases a firm command over the precise gradients of the artwork in a way that avoids any hint of banding.
The use of HDR yields some stunning enhancements to the full suite of colors on display from the mostly vibrant palette of Remnant to the more subdued portions with Batman and Weiss. This film balances the shift between these different environments effortlessly with formidable saturation. The disc provides stronger black levels for an immaculate viewing experience free of black crush, along with firmer highlights that never veer into blooming. The Blu-Ray just cannot measure up to the level of accuracy delivered by the 4K UHD Blu-Ray. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has delivered something really good here.
Audio Quality
This release features a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that sounds a bit more rudimentary compared to most DCAU productions. The score is a bit overbearing compared to the competing sounds, occasionally making certain exchanges hard to hear. The track does not engage all of the channels as much as you want outside of a few lively panning effects and sounds of explosions that transport you to the action. There is a good amount of activity in the low-end which will give your subwoofer a bit of a workout. The quieter moments fare a bit better in terms of clarity and complexity. There are no obvious sync issues or other anomalies present to ruin the experience. Warner Bros. has delivered a track that is slightly lacking but gets the job done well enough. There are optional English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles provided.

Final Thoughts
Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One is a bit unexpected in terms of combining the forces of two properties, but it works better than you might expect. The world of RWBY is very inviting to our established heroes, and it is fun discovering some of the dynamics between the different characters. While this is billed as a “part one” of a larger story, the film stands on its own pretty well as an entertaining time. With more from this dynamic apparently on the way, we are excited to check out what this creative team has in store. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released a 4K UHD Blu-Ray featuring a pretty good A/V presentation and a few decent special features. If you are open to something a little outside of the normal from this line, there is fun to be had. Recommended
