Gal Gadot is so beloved as Wonder Woman that it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the iconic characters right now. Actress Kate Beckinsale, though; revealed that she had been approached to play the character in the mid-2000s. Best known for her lead role in the Underworld franchise, Beckinsale certainly looks like she could play Diana Prince and she has the star power that could have drawn in crowds. After all, at some point; Nicolas Cage was meant to play Superman and Wesley Snipes had almost brought Black Panther to life years before Chadwick Boseman did.
In an interview, Beckinsale expresses gratitude that her Wonder Woman film never happened:
“Yes, there was a period of time, a long time ago, when [producer] Joel Silver was involved with it.” Beckinsale explained. “But it worked out beautifully. That was a wonderful film that Gal [Gadot] did.”
“No.” Beckinsale explained. “It would have been a terrible movie based on the script that I read.”
While Beckinsale probably would have been a good Wonder Woman, we can’t deny how well Gadot has played her, and we have Wonder Woman 1984 to look forward to for more Gal Gadot.
