PCB Entertainment has enlisted the haunting talents of Keith David and David Dastmalchian to narrate a gorgeously macabre restoration of the forgotten children’s classic The CarnEvil of Souls. The illustrated tale — a love letter to Tim Burton and Edward Gorey — is now live on Kickstarter through October 31, 2025.

Legendary Voices Bring the Tale to Life

Two of modern genre storytelling’s most distinctive voices will lend their talents to this restored edition: Keith David (known for Hazbin Hotel, The Thing, Spawn, Gargoyles, Coraline, and The Princess & The Frog) and David Dastmalchian (known for Late Night with the Devil, Murderbot, The Suicide Squad, and Dexter: Resurrection). Their narration promises to add gravitas, charm, and just the right amount of eerie elegance to this haunting children’s fable.

From a Forgotten Classic to a Kickstarter Revival

The tale traces back to 1806, when H.K. Grau published Verlorene Seele (The Lost Souls) inspired by the infamous 1711 carnival disaster. Reprinted later as The CarnEvil of Souls, the story also became tied — mythically — to the origins of the children’s song “Row Row Row Your Boat.” PCB Entertainment has restored the illustrated classic for a new generation, pairing period sensibility with contemporary production and collectible packaging.

    What’s Available on Kickstarter

Backers can select from multiple pledge tiers that honour PCB’s reputation for high-quality collectibles and experiences. Available rewards include:

    • 5” x 7” softcover edition
    • 12” leather-bound hardcover edition
    • 12” deluxe package: hardcover book + vinyl
    • Signature live experiences and convention appearances featuring Mr. Float’s creative team

PCB has a track record of successful, high-production Kickstarters, including Frost Road, The Exiled (with Wesley Snipes), and prior Mr. Float convention appearances across the U.S.

    Why This Project Matters

This release blends nostalgic gothic whimsy with modern production values. The restored narrative and lavish physical editions are designed to appeal to collectors, fans of macabre children’s literature, and audiences who appreciate the atmospheres of Tim Burton and Edward Gorey. The addition of high-profile narrators elevates the project from a niche reprint to a cross-generational event.

    How to Back

Supporters can view pledge tiers and back the project directly on Kickstarter. The campaign closes on October 31, 2025. Back the project here: Back Mr. Floats on Kickstarter
