Law & Order: SVU To Hire as Many Out of Work Broadway Actors As They Can

While the movie industry is also suffering right now, the Broadway industry is not doing too good either. Broadway has been shut down in New York City for virtually a year. And there’s no telling when it will open back up. That leaves a lot of actors out of work. Luckily, there’s one TV program that is looking to help – even just a little.

Law & Order: SVU is vowing to hire every out of work Broadway actor. Showrunner Warren Leight revealed:

“We are trying to hire every Broadway actor we can while we and they wait for the curtains to rise again.”

Leight continued:

“We know how hard the community has been hit here. The goal is to get as many jobs to as many theater actors as we possibly can. In the past, we’ve done what you could call Hollywood stunt casting, but a lot of those players aren’t going to be willing to get on a plane and quarantine right now,” Leight told Deadline. “We realized early on that we’ll have to cast locally much more.”

What do you think about the show’s mission statement?
