Legendary Moving Forward With Detective Pikachu Sequel

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21752″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The Ryan Reynolds led Pokémon film Detective Pikachu has been in theaters for a week now and while it did not have the opening many predicted, Legendary and Warner Bros Pictures seem to be moving forward with a sequel according to a new report from ComicBook.  The film was hyped as Warner Bros next billion dollar global event film after the Aquaman crushed the billion dollar mark last year but that does not seem to be the case for Pikachu. The film opened in second place opening weekend with $54.4M as Avengers Endgame continued its box office dominance.

Detective Pikachu now sits globally at $178.8M and with John Wick 3 coming out this weekend and Avengers still performing well, there is not telling how the film will finish. BoxOfficeMojo reports the film was made on a budget of $150m so the film should have no issues making its money back and even some profit. Despite all this the filmmakers must feel confident enough to push forward with another film and create possible spin off films in the world of Pokémon.
