Liam Neeson’s Red Carpet Event for Cold Pursuit Has Been Canceled Due to Recent Comments

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”15018″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]If you’ve been on social media lately, you know that action movie star Liam Neeson has come under heat over comments that he made during an interview on Monday. According to the Irish actor, he had violent thoughts about killing a black person after finding out a close friend had been raped by someone who was black. During this interview, Neeson intended to show how violence is not the answer to anything, but his comments instead have caused a lot of people to feel/look differently at him.

“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody — I’m ashamed to say that — and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could … kill him.” Neeson continued, “It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that. … But I did learn a lesson from it, when I eventually thought, ‘What the fuck are you doing,’ you know?”

As a result, the red carpet for Neeson’s upcoming film Cold Pursuit has been canceled, as New York City’s AMC Loews Lincoln Square feels that a red carpet in light of this information would not be appropriate.

Neeson then went on ABC’s Good Morning America to address the backlash with Robin Roberts:

“I’m not racist.” He added, “I was trying to show honor, to stand up for my dear friend in this terrible, medieval fashion. … I am a fairly intelligent guy and that’s why it kind of shocked me when I came down to earth after having these horrible feelings.”

How has Neeson’s comments made you feel?
