Lionsgate Home Entertainment has officially announced two additions to their exciting new direct-to-consumer site, Lionsgate Limited, arriving on 4K UHD Blu-Ray this April.
Basic Instinct will be available to own on 4K UHD Blu-Ray Steelbook for the first time on April 15, 2025. The film, featuring Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone, is the edgy erotic-thriller that shocked audiences worldwide when it premiered in 1992. The new release comes with a 2019-2020 4K restoration commissioned and supplied by StudioCanal (from the original 35mm negative), supervised and approved by director Paul Verhoeven and the original 2.0 theatrical stereo mix. The new release includes new and legacy special features.
Also on this date, director Abel Ferrara’s gritty 1990 crime-fable masterpiece King of New York hits even harder in 4K with its noirish story of a drug kingpin eager to regain his territory. This 2020 4K restoration, from the original negative by Arrow Films, was approved by director Abel Ferrara and cinematographer Bojan Bazelli. The release includes both new and legacy special features.
BASIC INSTINCT Synopsis
Douglas plays Nick Curran, a detective with a drinking problem and a soft spot for beautiful women. Stone is Catherine Tramell, a sexy crime novelist whose latest book’s plot seems to be playing out in real life when a rock star is murdered with an ice pick. As he investigates the murder, Curran’s suspicions about Tramell – and desire for her – spiral into a vortex of guilt, passion, and destruction, leading to one of filmdom’s most unforgettable twists.

KING OF NEW YORK Synopsis
Frank White (Christopher Walken) is just out of prison, and he wastes no time – or bullets – in brutally establishing his empire. When the undercover cops standing in Frank’s way decide to match his ruthlessness, the violence that erupts is vintage Ferrara: unflinching, epic, and cinematically poetic. With a cast including Laurence Fishburne, David Caruso, Wesley Snipes, and Giancarlo Esposito, King of New York reigns supreme in the annals of gangster films.
