We no doubt have had our fair share of weird things happening lately, but can things get any weirder? I’m here to tell you it can. Now with Pac-Man, the beloved 1980’s video game, is getting its own live-action movie.
Wayfarer Studios and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc, are joining forces. The film will be based on an idea from Chuck Williams the producer behind 2020s Sonic. Unlike many failed video-game-to-movie-adaptations, Sonic has proven video game nostalgia can indeed make some money.

But at least with sonic it has some kind of backstory and mission, collect coins and defeat Dr. Robotnik. Perhaps, there is a princess involved as well? Although this doesn’t seem quite compelling in terms of what they could do story wise, this bizarre yellow creature himself has appeared on the screen outside of the arcade once before.
In 1982, Hanna-Barbera’s Pac-Man was in fact the first cartoon based on the video game. In fact being one of the most highest-rated Saturday morning cartoons at once, coming out with both a Halloween and a Christmas special that same year. In 2013, Disney XD explored with the IP, and developed the CGI series Pac-Mac and the Ghostly Adventures.
Not much else to report on this as of now, but maybe will finally learn a thing or two about the story behind the ghost eating creature? Will Ms Pac-Man show up in the film? Is Ms. Pac-Man his wife? There are many questions to be answered here, and we shall update you as we hear them.
