Loki: Marvel’s Squadron Supreme To Make MCU Debut?

With the Loki series slowly revealing what fans can expect, there is also a great deal of speculation. Speculation that could turn out to be true or perhaps, false. We’ll just have to see.

One piece of speculation is that the Squadron Supreme will show up. The team was created in the late 60s/early 70s by Roy Thomas and John Buscema. If you’ve seen pictures of these characters, you can tell that they were definitely based on the Justice League characters from DC. At the time, the characters on the team were: Hyperion, Nighthawk, Doctor Spectrum, Power Princess, and the Whizzer. While they had guest appearances here and there, they also had a very successful twelve-issue limited series by Mark Gruenwald in 1985.

The Squadron Supreme of America had been created by Thunderbolt Ross and Phil Coulson to be a national alternative to the Avengers. We’ve seen that Thunderbolt is clearly having more of a presence in the next phase of the MCU. We also see that the government is having their own hand in putting together their own heroes, with the U.S. Agent in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Bleeding Cool speculates that the team in some capacity will show up on the Loki series. We will just have to wait for confirmation.
