Elizabeth Debicki was originally meant to have one of the main supporting roles in the series. We are learning that Debicki will now be replaced by Abbey Lee. There doesn’t seem to be any reason as to why this happened, but it’s not uncommon. Lee is known for being in such movies as Mad Max: Fury Road, The Neon Demon, The Dark Tower, and Office Christmas Party.

Lovecraft Country is a series that will hit HBO and is based on the Matt Ruff novel of the same name. We will follow the adventures of Atticus Freeman played by Jonathan Majors. He will embark on a trip across the 1950s Jim Crow-era American South in search of his dad. Uncle George, played by Courtney B. Vance; and Letitia (Jurnee Smollet-Bell) will be joining him. The group will deal with the racism of that time and literal monsters such as those found in an HP Lovecraft story.

Lovecraft Country will hit HBO in 2020.
